Mission Statement
This page was created by the The Student Art Movement (S.A.M.) Resource Research and Facilitation Project for artists and students looking for resources and financial support for their emerging careers in the fine arts.
The Resource and Research Facilitation Project is a new student-run course at the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC), lead by Artists Dmitri Zurita and Heidi Cramer with faculty sponsorship by Christina Waters, PhD. The purpose of this class is to create a database of resources for students and emerging artists by working together as a team and researching residencies, grants and other helpful resources online, in person with faculty members and other artists around the Bay area. The students that made this page possible are:
Josh Katz, Taryn Costello, Courtney Scruggs, Benjamin Ten Elshof, Ayla Thurmond, Bri Bol, Elena Staley, Lea Salanon, Amanda Hopkins, Juliet DeAmicis, Max Silver and Cassandra Crider.
What is S.A.M.?
The Student Art Movement is engaged in developing a community within the Art Department of UCSC and integrate all the divisions of the arts to collectively voice our opinions in the Art Department. The S.A.M. also works on quarterly art events, community art projects both on and off the UCSC campus, and is working towards a student-run course on worldwide Masters Programs and internships for emerging artists during the Spring of 2013.
